MOFSL Reiterates Buy for Bharti Airtel stock
Published on 10/08/2026 at 11:17 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSBharti Airtel (INE397D01024) received a reiterated Buy rating and a INR 2,250 price target from MOFSL on October 8, 2026, according to BusinessToday. The call followed Bharti Airtel's INR 50 postpaid tariff increase, effective October 8, 2026, and puts monetization of its premium customer base at the center of the investment case.
MOFSL sees INR 2,250
MOFSL said postpaid customers represent 8.00 percent of Bharti Airtel's subscriber mix but about 12.00 percent of its wireless revenue mix, according to the same October 8, 2026 report. The broker estimated that the tariff increase could lift blended average revenue per user by 1.00 percent, with part of the benefit offset by the bundled international roaming offer.
The target is an analyst valuation rather than a company forecast. The distinction matters because the revised plans combine higher monthly prices with a five-day roaming pack that includes 5GB of data, 60 minutes of calls and 25 outgoing text messages.
Tariffs rise as revenue grows
The new postpaid plans raise monthly prices by 3.00 percent to 11.00 percent across the portfolio, while each postpaid SIM receives one annual international roaming trip. Sahi reported that Bharti Airtel's consolidated net profit reached INR 81.67 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, up 37.30 percent year over year, while operational revenue rose 18.30 percent to INR 585.39 billion, converted from INR 58,539 crore.
The counter-factor is customer economics. NDTV Profit reported that Morgan Stanley viewed the plans as reactive and not average-revenue-per-user accretive, while roaming costs could offset part of the tariff benefit.
NSE quote stays above yearly low
Bharti Airtel traded at INR 1,799.70 on the NSE on October 8, 2026 at 2:45 a.m. CEST, equivalent to 2:45 p.m. IST. The quote stood 4.25 percent above the INR 1,726.30 52-week low and 17.24 percent below the INR 2,174.50 high, while market capitalization was INR 11.2 trillion.
Monetization meets execution risk
For investors, the key comparison is between the 1.00 percent estimated blended average-revenue-per-user lift and the 3.00 percent to 11.00 percent plan increases. Bharti Airtel's latest reported revenue growth provides operating support, but the roaming cost offset leaves the target dependent on customer retention and premium-plan adoption.
