Mitsubishi Electric stock faces a sharper execution test after stronger first-half results and a lifted operating-profit outlook. Capital returns add support.

Results Raise The Next Test

  • First-half revenue and operating profit rose strongly from the prior year as demand broadened across key businesses.
  • Management raised full-year revenue and adjusted operating-profit guidance while lowering its attributable-profit forecast.
  • A larger dividend outlook and a share buyback put capital allocation alongside execution in the spotlight.

Mitsubishi Electric reported stronger first-half results for fiscal 2027 on Friday, October 30, while raising its full-year revenue and adjusted operating-profit forecasts. The figures were published in the company's financial-results release and summarized by Japan IR.

Revenue for the six months ended September reached JPY 3.125 trillion, up 14.4 percent from the same period a year earlier. Operating profit increased 59.6 percent to JPY 358.112 billion, while profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 56.8 percent to JPY 297.025 billion. Adjusted operating profit reached JPY 344.778 billion, an increase of 68.5 percent.

Higher Targets, Mixed Profit Outlook

Mitsubishi Electric raised its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast to JPY 6.550 trillion from JPY 6.270 trillion and lifted its adjusted operating-profit forecast to JPY 710 billion from JPY 620 billion. The company expects revenue to rise 11.1 percent year over year and adjusted operating profit to increase 41.6 percent.

The outlook for attributable profit moved in the opposite direction. Mitsubishi Electric lowered that forecast to JPY 465 billion from JPY 495 billion, with full-year basic earnings per share projected at JPY 227.20. The differing guidance paths leave investors focused on the quality of operating growth, the effect of portfolio changes and the conversion of higher operating profit into bottom-line earnings.

The company attributed the stronger first-half performance to broad demand and contributions from businesses including factory automation, air conditioning, infrastructure, and defense and space. Reported profit also benefited from a weaker yen and a change in depreciation method, factors investors need to separate from underlying operating momentum.

Capital Returns Add A Second Catalyst

Mitsubishi Electric raised its annual dividend forecast to JPY 60 per share, including a JPY 30 interim dividend, and approved a share buyback of up to JPY 200 billion through March 2027. The program is intended to strengthen shareholder returns and improve capital efficiency while the group continues to invest in growth areas.

The company also completed the full acquisition of U.S. energy software provider PCI Energy Solutions on November 2, making PCI a wholly owned subsidiary. The Japan IR disclosure said PCI generated revenue of USD 81.383 million in 2025, up from USD 59.252 million in 2023. Mitsubishi Electric said it would disclose any necessary revision to its consolidated earnings forecast.
