- Meta paused planned updates covering four commercial, catalog, advertising and generative AI terms.
- The existing terms remain in effect while Meta consults stakeholders.
- The company has not announced a new implementation date.
Meta Platforms said on Friday, November 6, 2026, that it had paused planned updates to four sets of business-facing rules. The move keeps the existing terms in effect while the company continues consultations with stakeholders.
Reuters reported through Euronext that the pause covers Meta's Commercial Terms, Product Catalog Terms, Self-Serve Ad Terms and Ad Creative Generative AI Terms. The changes will not take effect on November 20, 2026, as previously planned.
Existing rules stay in force
Meta said it was pausing the changes while it engages with stakeholders and takes more time to get the policy update right. The company has not given a new date for implementation.
The planned rules had drawn criticism from publishers and other business users over provisions that critics said could allow Meta to crawl websites connected with business accounts. The dispute adds regulatory and reputational pressure to a policy area linked to Meta's wider artificial intelligence strategy.
