Magyar Telekom reported stronger operating performance for the third quarter of 2026, with growth in service revenue, profitability and customer activity. The company released the unaudited figures on November 4. Its Magyar Telekom investor news said demand for data and broadband services remained strong.

Magyar Telekom stock traded at 8.03 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:05 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

Operating momentum remained broad

Group service revenue increased 5.2 percent year-on-year in the third quarter. The company attributed the advance to demand for data and broadband services, with the inflation-linked fee adjustment introduced on July 1 also supporting revenue per customer.

Total revenue rose 7.4 percent year-on-year as telecommunications services were joined by stronger IT and equipment sales. Gross profit increased 6.0 percent, while EBITDA after leases gained 6.6 percent. Adjusted net income rose 11.3 percent, with higher EBITDA more than offsetting increased financial expenses.

Capital expenditure after leases, excluding spectrum licenses, increased 5.2 percent year-on-year. Magyar Telekom linked the rise to higher network investment, partly offset by the absence of one-off costs connected with asset retirement obligations.

Cash generation needs attention

The main counterpoint came from cash generation. Free cash flow excluding spectrum licenses reached HUF 146.3 billion in the first nine months, down 18.7 percent from the prior-year period. Higher working capital requirements, increased capital expenditure and income tax payments weighed on cash flow, while the comparison also lacked proceeds from subsidiary sales.

For investors, the figures show a business benefiting from pricing, subscriber expansion and demand for connectivity. The weaker cash conversion indicates that stronger operating earnings are not translating fully into near-term free cash flow, an issue that can influence dividend capacity and balance-sheet flexibility if it persists.

Transformation adds a strategic layer

Chief Executive Tibor Rékasi said the subscriber base continued to expand and that the July fee adjustment supported average revenue per user. He also said the company had started a broad transformation of customer service operations, targeting greater agility, improved service quality and more personalized offers.

The initiative gives the results a longer-term efficiency angle. Its success will depend on whether service improvements and customer insights can reinforce retention and growth without adding disproportionate operating costs.
