LG Energy Solution stock expands its ESS order target to 90 GWh
Published on 10/07/2026 at 10:35 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSLG Energy Solution (KR7373220003) was last at KRW 391,000 on the Korea Exchange on October 7, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. KST, up 0.26 percent on the session. The battery maker is targeting 90 GWh of energy storage system orders in 2026 as it expands beyond electric vehicle cells.
ESS orders raise the stakes
As Money Today reported on October 6, 2026, LG Energy Solution secured new ESS contracts worth more than KRW 3 trillion in the first half of 2026. The company plans North American ESS production capacity above 50 GWh by the end of 2026, while its annual order target stands at 90 GWh.
The scale changes the earnings question. Money Today reported that ESS division revenue could exceed three times the prior-year level, making capacity utilization and software services important factors alongside battery shipments.
Revenue grows while margins stay thin
According to ATS View, Q2 2026 revenue reached KRW 7.56 trillion, up 35.8 percent from Q2 2025, while operating profit was KRW 113 billion and the operating margin was 1.5 percent. Net income remained negative at KRW 329 billion.
The quarter improved on Q1 2026 revenue of KRW 6.55 trillion and an operating loss of KRW 208 billion, but the 1.5 percent operating margin shows that sales growth has not yet produced broad profitability. For investors, the ESS expansion therefore matters most when it converts contracted volume into stronger margins.
