- LANXESS increased third-quarter sales and adjusted earnings despite weak demand in key markets.
- Specialty Additives delivered the strongest segment earnings growth, while Consumer Protection and Advanced Intermediates faced pressure.
- Management expects full-year EBITDA pre exceptionals at the upper end of its narrowed range and positive free cash flow in the fourth quarter.
LANXESS reported stronger third-quarter sales and earnings on Thursday, November 5, while narrowing its 2026 operating outlook. In its third-quarter release, the specialty chemicals group said sales rose 9.6 percent year over year to EUR 1.467 billion, while EBITDA pre exceptionals increased 11.2 percent to EUR 139 million.
LANXESS stock traded at 12.99 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:46 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 0.23 percent above the Xetra close of 12.96 euros on Thursday, November 5. Compared with the 12.05-euro quote in the previous report published on Wednesday, November 4, the share price was 7.80 percent higher.
Cash flow and guidance improve
Free cash flow swung to positive EUR 48 million from negative EUR 14 million in the year-earlier quarter. The company also expects positive free cash flow in the fourth quarter.
LANXESS now expects full-year EBITDA pre exceptionals at the upper end of a EUR 450 million to EUR 500 million range. The narrower outlook replaces the previously cited EUR 450 million to EUR 550 million range and gives investors a more defined benchmark for the final quarter.
Segment trends remain uneven
Specialty Additives was the main earnings driver. Its EBITDA pre exceptionals rose 57.8 percent to EUR 71 million, supported by price increases and cost reductions. Consumer Protection increased sales to EUR 491 million, but EBITDA fell 6.9 percent to EUR 67 million after a favorable customer-contract effect in the prior-year period.
Advanced Intermediates lifted sales 7.2 percent to EUR 404 million, while EBITDA pre exceptionals slipped to EUR 25 million from EUR 26 million. LANXESS cited high energy costs, weak demand in construction and agriculture, and low Rhine water levels as operating pressures.
For investors, the report combines improving cash generation with continued exposure to cyclical demand and energy costs. The fourth quarter will show whether pricing, savings and segment momentum can support the upper end of the revised earnings range.
