Lam Research stock enters November with record demand but limited delivery capacity. Management expects some December shipments to move into March.

Supply Limits Shape Outlook

  • Lam Research reported record September-quarter revenue of 8.22 billion US dollars and adjusted earnings per share of 2.20 US dollars.
  • Management expects December-quarter revenue of 8.60 billion US dollars, but component shortages may defer some shipments into the March quarter.
  • Industry wafer-fabrication equipment spending is expected to exceed 200 billion US dollars in calendar 2027.

Lam Research enters November with semiconductor-equipment demand running ahead of delivery capacity. The company reported record revenue for the quarter ended September 27, 2026, while management warned that supply constraints could push some December shipments into the March quarter.

Record Quarter Meets Capacity Limits

According to Yahoo Finance, Lam Research generated 8.22 billion US dollars of revenue in its fiscal first quarter of 2027. Revenue increased 54 percent from the year-earlier period, while non-GAAP earnings per share reached 2.20 US dollars. Chief Executive Timothy Archer attributed the record quarter to artificial-intelligence demand and greater semiconductor-device complexity.

The stronger operating performance did not translate into an unconstrained near-term outlook. Chief Financial Officer Douglas Bettinger said the December-quarter revenue forecast would have been higher without near-term supply-chain constraints. Lam Research forecasts revenue of 8.60 billion US dollars, plus or minus 400 million US dollars, and adjusted earnings per share of 2.33 US dollars, plus or minus 0.15 US dollars.

Shipments Become the Key Test

Management did not quantify the revenue affected by the bottlenecks. Bettinger said equipment delayed by timing issues could ship in the March quarter instead. The comments indicate that customer demand remains strong, but the conversion of orders into reported revenue depends on components, manufacturing capacity and clean-room availability.

Lam Research expects semiconductor-industry spending on wafer-fabrication equipment to exceed 200 billion US dollars in calendar 2027. Management also expects supply and clean-room constraints to continue limiting the industry's ability to meet demand fully, although Archer said the current situation is less severe than the shortages seen during the pandemic.
