- Kontron confirmed its 2026 revenue and adjusted EBITDA outlook despite weaker reported revenue and extraordinary restructuring costs.
- Memory-chip shortages delayed deliveries, while GreenTec restructuring is expected to generate more than 30 million euros in annual savings from 2027.
- The record order backlog and a book-to-bill ratio above one point to continued demand, but cash flow remains under pressure.
Kontron reported its financial results for the first nine months of 2026 on Thursday, November 5. The company confirmed its full-year forecast, but reported revenue and operating cash flow declined as restructuring costs and memory-chip shortages weighed on the period, according to the EQS announcement carried by ad-hoc-news.de.
Kontron generated revenue of 1,102.9 million euros from January through September, compared with 1,123.6 million euros on an adjusted basis in the prior-year period. Adjusted EBITDA rose to 151.0 million euros from 140.1 million euros, although reported EBITDA fell to 125.9 million euros from 193.6 million euros.
Restructuring Changes Earnings Profile
The comparison was affected by 25.1 million euros in extraordinary restructuring costs in 2026 and one-off income from the prior-year deconsolidation of the COM business. Net income attributable to shareholders fell to 52.7 million euros from 110.8 million euros.
Kontron completed its GreenTec restructuring program in the third quarter as planned. Management expects the measures to create annual cost savings of more than 30 million euros, with the full effect expected from the 2027 financial year.
Chip Constraints Hold Back Cash Flow
Operating cash flow declined to 4.3 million euros from 49.7 million euros. Kontron attributed the pressure to inventory built up because of tight memory-chip availability. Products and chips worth 68.6 million euros had not yet been delivered at the end of the period, with most shipments expected in the fourth quarter.
The order backlog reached 2,751.9 million euros at the end of September, up from 2,495.3 million euros at the end of 2025. A book-to-bill ratio of 1.23 indicates that incoming orders continued to exceed recognized revenue. Management maintained its 2026 expectation for revenue of around 1.6 billion euros and adjusted EBITDA of around 200 million euros, or 225 million euros before restructuring one-offs.
Kontron stock traded at 19.18 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:08 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 6.07 percent below the Xetra close of Wednesday, November 4.

Kontron also warned that settlement talks with Volkswagen could lead to an impairment of intangible assets of up to 25 million euros. Any such depreciation would not affect EBITDA or cash flow, according to the company.
