Kioxia stock faces test as record quarter meets cautious outlook

- Kioxia reported strong July-to-September revenue and operating profit after a surge in AI-related storage demand.
- The October-to-December forecast points to broadly stable revenue and profit as a stronger yen offsets demand from data centers.
- Management expects some delayed enterprise-storage orders to support growth in the January-to-March quarter.
Kioxia reported a record July-to-September quarter on October 30, but its outlook for the following three months is nearly flat. The combination leaves investors focused on whether strong AI-storage demand can offset slower NAND price growth and currency pressure.
Revenue reached 2,480.0 billion yen in the quarter, while operating profit rose to 1,994.7 billion yen from 1,270.0 billion yen in the previous quarter, according to ShiftDelete's report on the results. Kioxia's investor-relations page lists the consolidated financial results for the six months ended September 30, 2026.
Flat Guidance Tests AI Momentum
For October through December, Kioxia forecasts revenue of 2,500.0 billion yen and operating profit of 1,995.0 billion yen. Revenue would rise only 0.8 percent from the September quarter, while operating profit would be broadly unchanged.
The company said data-center demand should remain strong, but it is using an average exchange rate of 157 yen per US dollar for the quarter, compared with 161 yen in the September period. NAND flash average selling-price growth also slowed to a mid-20 percent rate in the September quarter from about 70 percent previously, according to the cited report.
Management attributed part of the pause to timing. Some orders were pulled forward into the September quarter, while enterprise-storage products with longer production lead times could shift additional volume into January through March. Kioxia has also said planned output for 2027 is sold out and more than half of 2028 production has been allocated.
Stock Trades Below Prior Report Quote
Kioxia stock traded at 61.92 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:32 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 15.50 percent below the 73.28-euro quote cited in the October 27 report. The comparison is separate from the daily Xetra close.
For investors, the next test is whether delayed enterprise demand can restore sequential growth without a renewed acceleration in NAND pricing. The flat near-term forecast raises the importance of shipment timing, foreign-exchange movements and the company's January-to-March outlook.
