- Kioxia is scheduled to publish fiscal second-quarter results on Friday evening in Tokyo.
- Analysts expect revenue to exceed the company guidance as NAND prices and enterprise SSD demand support growth.
- Capacity expansion and the cyclical NAND market remain key risks for margins and cash flow.
Kioxia Holdings is approaching a closely watched earnings release as memory prices and artificial-intelligence data-center demand reshape expectations for the Japanese flash-memory maker. The company is scheduled to publish its fiscal 2026 second-quarter results on Friday, October 30, at 18:45 Japan time, or 10:45 a.m. in Berlin. Kioxia's investor-relations page lists the release as a scheduled event.
A preview by TradingKey says analysts expect second-quarter revenue of 2.45 trillion yen, above Kioxia's previous guidance of 2.39 trillion yen. The company had previously estimated IFRS operating profit at 1.89 trillion yen and non-GAAP operating profit at 1.90 trillion yen.
Pricing remains the earnings driver
Kioxia's management expects higher average selling prices for memory products to provide about 70% of the additional revenue in the quarter. The remainder is expected to come mainly from low-single-digit growth in bit shipments. That mix makes NAND pricing a central test for the release: stronger pricing can lift revenue and profitability without requiring the same increase in volumes.
The first quarter showed the scale of the current upswing. Revenue reached 1.767 trillion yen and operating profit 1.270 trillion yen, according to the TradingKey preview. Stock-based compensation of 19.4 billion yen and litigation provisions of 36.6 billion yen weighed on operating profit. Excluding those items, non-GAAP operating profit was 1.326 trillion yen.
Storage and SSD products are particularly important to the outlook. TradingKey estimates that Kioxia's SSD and storage business generated about 1.175 trillion yen in the first quarter, representing 66.5% of total revenue. Investors will therefore be looking for evidence that enterprise SSD demand from AI data centers is translating into sustained pricing and shipment growth.
Expansion raises the stakes
Kioxia and SanDisk announced plans in August to invest more than 31 billion US dollars in Japan by 2032 across equipment, infrastructure and technology upgrades at the Yokkaichi and Kitakami facilities. The plan depends on government support and is not financed by Kioxia alone. Kioxia also plans to build Fab 3 in Kitakami, with operations targeted for fiscal 2029.
Those projects could expand future NAND capacity, but their returns will depend on demand, selling prices and factory utilization. The NAND market remains cyclical, so a slowdown in customer demand or a renewed increase in supply could pressure margins and cash flow even if near-term results are strong.
TradingKey cited an average analyst price target of 36,233 yen from 16 analysts, with the highest target at 66,700 yen. It also reported that Goldman Sachs maintained a Buy rating with a 39,000-yen target, while UBS cut its target from 42,000 yen to 33,000 yen and retained its Buy rating. The range highlights the differing assumptions surrounding NAND prices, enterprise SSD growth and Kioxia's expansion spending.
