- Automation growth supported KION's third-quarter performance, while industrial-truck demand remained weaker.
- The company lowered its 2026 outlook and moved its double-digit adjusted EBIT margin target beyond 2027.
- A new segment structure and IFRS 18 reporting changes were central to the November 5 investor teach-in.
KION entered the final trading day of the week with a mixed operating picture: automation continued to expand, while weaker industrial-truck orders led the group to lower its 2026 outlook. Forkliftaction News reported on Thursday, November 5, that third-quarter revenue rose 4.8 percent year on year to 2.8 billion euros, while total order intake fell 0.9 percent to 2.65 billion euros.
Automation offsets truck weakness
Intelligent Automation Solutions remained the stronger part of the group. Its third-quarter revenue increased 15.8 percent to 890 million euros, while Industrial Trucks and Services revenue grew only 0.6 percent to 1.96 billion euros. First-nine-month group revenue reached 8.5 billion euros, up 3.9 percent from the prior-year period.
The weaker order trend in Industrial Trucks and Services was the central constraint. KION lowered its 2026 revenue range to 11.45 billion to 11.75 billion euros from 11.525 billion to 12.025 billion euros previously. The adjusted EBIT range was reduced to 815 million to 875 million euros from 880 million to 980 million euros. Management now expects the medium-term target of a double-digit adjusted EBIT margin only after 2027.
Reporting changes enter focus
On Thursday, November 5, KION held an investor teach-in on its planned reporting changes. The company is preparing a separate Financial Services segment and changes linked to IFRS 18, with most leasing activities scheduled to move out of Industrial Trucks and Services from the first quarter of 2027. Investors will have to distinguish future reporting effects from underlying operational trends.
