Keysight Technologies introduced a new oscilloscope for high-density automated test systems on November 3, 2026. In a Keysight newsroom release, the company said the XR3 is designed to increase measurement capacity in rack-based systems where space, cabling and synchronization are constraints.

Compact design targets complex testing

The XR3 occupies one rack unit and combines four analog channels with 16 digital channels. Keysight said the platform is intended for applications spanning aerospace and defense, manufacturing and physics, where engineers increasingly need more measurement capability in compact equipment racks.

The instrument uses a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter and Keysight's MegaZoom 5 application-specific integrated circuit. Its stated specifications include a 50-microvolt root mean square noise floor and an update rate of 1.3 million waveforms per second. The XR3 also offers 100 million points of memory per channel for capturing small signals and rare events.

Synchronization is the main selling point

Multiple XR3 units can be synchronized to create more than 100 time-correlated channels in one system. Keysight highlighted an autosensing 10 MHz reference input and output, together with automatic synchronization, discovery and deskew functions designed to simplify setup across several instruments.

Selectable bandwidths range from 200 MHz to 1 GHz. The company also said protocol decodes, power-supply testing and jitter analysis are supported natively, while its Infiniium 2026 software can provide a unified interface for multiple XR3 units through an external controller.

Jun Chie, Keysight's vice president of product management, said the product is intended to remove the trade-off between measurement performance and rack space. The release positions the instrument as a tool for adding synchronized channels and simplifying integration as test systems expand.

Upcoming results remain the next catalyst
