Jio Financial Services stock weighs sharp Q2 profit decline

- Jio Financial Services delivered stronger operating revenue but weaker quarterly profit.
- Higher expenses and a negative contribution from associates pressured the result.
Jio Financial Services reported a mixed September 2026 quarter, with net sales rising 73.15 percent year over year to INR 1,699.28 crore while net profit after minority interests and associates fell 51.02 percent to INR 340.44 crore. Moneycontrol reported the quarterly figures.
Revenue growth meets profit pressure
EBITDA increased 58.2 percent year over year to INR 1,122.38 crore, but the stronger operating performance did not translate into higher bottom-line earnings. Basic and diluted earnings per share declined to INR 0.51 from INR 1.10 a year earlier.
Expenses were a central pressure point. Employee costs rose to INR 146.67 crore from INR 94.61 crore, while other expenses reached INR 389.61 crore compared with INR 185.08 crore in the prior-year quarter. Provisions and contingencies also increased to INR 40.75 crore from INR 13.24 crore.
Associate contribution weakens
Jio Financial Services recorded a negative share of profit from associates of INR 43.88 crore, compared with a positive contribution of INR 217.17 crore in the September 2025 quarter. That swing further reduced the benefit from higher operating income.
For investors, the figures point to a business expanding its revenue base while profitability remains sensitive to costs, provisions and associate results. The next quarterly update should show whether the improvement in operating income can become more durable earnings growth.
