Jefferies raises target for Stora Enso stock to EUR 12.50

Jefferies raised its price target to EUR 12.50 from EUR 12.15 on September 22, 2026, while reiterating its Buy rating, as MarketScreener reported.
Target meets a cautious earnings view
Jefferies expects EBIT of EUR 146.00 million in the third quarter, 8.00 percent below consensus, before an improvement to EUR 176.00 million in the fourth quarter. The forecast makes the target increase notable because the near-term earnings view remains restrained.
The same analysis highlights cost measures of EUR 500.00 million to EUR 700.00 million, higher kraftliner prices, the ramp-up at Uleåborg and the potential value of Stora Enso's Swedish forest assets.
Second-quarter profit turned negative
Stora Enso reported revenue of EUR 2.42 billion and net income of negative EUR 13.00 million for the second quarter of 2026, according to Investing.com. Revenue rose from EUR 2.36 billion in the first quarter, but net income fell from EUR 32.00 million to negative EUR 13.00 million between the two periods.
The latest release also showed earnings per share of EUR 0.03 against a forecast of EUR 0.14. That combination leaves operating execution and the planned efficiency measures as the key tests for the higher valuation case.
Restructuring remains a central test
Stora Enso confirmed the permanent closure of its Veitsiluoto sawmill in Kemi after statutory negotiations, with production set to end after the furlough period, Pulpaper News reported on September 17, 2026. The company plans to consolidate northern Finnish sawmilling at other sites while directing customers to its remaining mills.
The next interim report is scheduled for October 30, 2026, according to Affärsvärlden. That date gives investors a defined checkpoint for whether pricing, cost controls and production changes are translating into stronger EBIT.
Stora Enso stock stays below target
At EUR 10.01, the Lang & Schwarz price stood EUR 2.49 below the Jefferies target of EUR 12.50 on October 5, 2026. The next report will show whether the projected improvement from EUR 146.00 million of third-quarter EBIT to EUR 176.00 million in the fourth quarter can support that valuation view.
