- Management expects 2026 da Vinci procedure growth near the midpoint of its 14 percent to 15 percent range.
Intuitive Surgical reported strong operating growth for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, while a proposed antitrust settlement weighed on reported earnings, according to an ad-hoc-news.de report. Revenue rose 22 percent year over year to 3.05 billion US dollars.
Procedure growth supports demand
Worldwide procedures across the da Vinci and Ion platforms increased about 15 percent from a year earlier. Da Vinci procedures rose about 14 percent, while Ion procedures advanced about 31 percent.
Intuitive placed 546 da Vinci systems during the quarter, compared with 427 a year earlier. The placements included 315 da Vinci 5 systems, up from 240 in the prior-year period. Instruments and accessories revenue increased 18 percent to 1.80 billion US dollars, while systems revenue reached 769 million US dollars.
Settlement weighs on reported profit
A proposed settlement of previously disclosed antitrust class-action litigation triggered a 450 million US dollar pretax charge. The agreement includes a one-time payment and injunctive relief without an admission of liability or wrongdoing, and remains subject to preliminary and final court approval.
GAAP net income attributable to Intuitive Surgical fell to 523 million US dollars, or 1.49 US dollars per diluted share, from 704 million US dollars, or 1.95 US dollars, in the prior-year quarter. On a non-GAAP basis, net income rose to 1.05 billion US dollars from 867 million US dollars, while adjusted diluted earnings increased to 3.00 US dollars from 2.40 US dollars.
Outlook keeps procedures central
Management expects worldwide da Vinci procedure growth of 14 percent to 15 percent in 2026, with the result near the midpoint of that range. It also forecasts a non-GAAP gross margin of 68.7 percent to 69.3 percent and operating expense growth of 11 percent to 13 percent, assuming current tariffs remain in place through year-end.
