- Infineon introduced AURIX RC1 as its first RISC-V-based automotive microcontroller platform.
- The scalable family is designed for software-defined vehicles, Physical AI and cross-domain computing.
- Infineon plans to present the platform at electronica in Munich from November 10 to 13.
Infineon introduced a new automotive microcontroller platform on Wednesday, November 4, adding a fresh product angle as investors await the semiconductor group's next industry milestones. The company said AURIX RC1 is its first MCU platform based on the open-standard RISC-V architecture. The details come from Infineon's press release.
RISC-V broadens automotive portfolio
AURIX RC1 is intended to provide one scalable microcontroller basis across several vehicle domains rather than separate point solutions. Infineon said the platform can serve zone, body and chassis control, battery management, powertrain systems, driver-assistance safety functions and cockpit applications.
Depending on the product configuration, the family is planned to include up to 12 32-bit processing cores, an edge-artificial-intelligence processing unit and up to 40 megabytes of embedded memory. Infineon also plans higher-end devices with additional 64-bit microprocessor capabilities, extending the platform toward more centralized vehicle computing.
Samples and electronica set next markers
Infineon targets initial AURIX RC1 samples for the first half of 2027. The company plans to present the family concept at electronica in Munich from Tuesday, November 10, to Friday, November 13, giving customers and investors an early view of the platform before commercial availability.
