- IBM and the USTA extended their partnership after record digital engagement at the 2026 US Open.
- New fan features included Live Updates, Key Moments and Serve Quality, powered by hybrid cloud and AI.
- The USTA reported a 26 percent increase in interactions and video views across its owned social channels.
IBM and the United States Tennis Association announced on October 28 that they had renewed their longstanding partnership, keeping IBM as the Official AI and Cloud Partner of the US Open through 2031. IBM published the announcement in its IBM newsroom.
USTA renewal extends IBM's digital role
The renewal follows a record-setting 2026 tournament, when IBM-powered platforms generated more than 270 million engagements across USOpen.org and the US Open app. The partnership has covered the tournament's digital platforms for more than three decades, including the website launched in 1995 and the mobile app introduced in 2009.
The 2026 feature rollout included Live Updates, Key Moments and Serve Quality. IBM and the USTA said the services use hybrid cloud and AI technologies to turn live match information into more relevant digital experiences for fans.
Kameryn Stanhouse, IBM's vice president for sports and entertainment partnerships, said the renewal would bring IBM technology to the next generation of the US Open fan experience. Brian Ryerson, the USTA's senior director for digital strategy, said the organizations would continue developing digital engagement and fan services.
Record reach supports strategic visibility
The USTA also reported more than 1.2 million fans attending across the three tournament weeks, including more than 300,000 during Fan Week. Its owned and operated social channels generated more than 3.9 billion interactions and video views, up 26 percent from 2025.
For IBM, the agreement offers a prominent showcase for hybrid cloud and AI capabilities rather than a disclosed financial contribution to near-term results. The release did not provide contract value or revenue guidance, so the immediate investment case remains tied to IBM's broader execution in enterprise technology.
