IBM and the United States Tennis Association announced on October 28 that they had renewed their long-running partnership for five years. IBM will remain the US Open's official AI and cloud partner through 2031, giving the technology group another multiyear showcase for its hybrid-cloud and artificial-intelligence capabilities.

The announcement came from the IBM newsroom. The company said the 2026 US Open generated more than 270 million engagements across USOpen.org and the tournament app, setting a record for IBM-powered digital platforms.

AI features support the renewal

The partnership spans more than three decades. IBM and the USTA introduced USOpen.org in 1995 and the mobile app in 2009. For the 2026 tournament, the organizations added Live Updates, Key Moments and Serve Quality, features designed to turn match and player data into more accessible information for fans.

IBM Vice President Kameryn Stanhouse said the renewal would bring IBM technology to the next generation of the US Open fan experience. USTA Senior Director Brian Ryerson said the group planned to continue using technology to expand digital engagement and give fans more ways to connect with tennis.

The USTA also reported more than 1.2 million visitors across the three tournament weeks, while its owned social channels generated more than 3.9 billion interactions, including engagements and video views. That figure increased 26 percent from 2025, according to the announcement. The release did not provide the financial terms of the partnership, so its direct contribution to IBM revenue cannot be quantified from the announcement.

IBM stock trades above Tuesday close

IBM stock traded at 224.95 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 1:37 p.m. CET on Wednesday, November 4, 0.69 percent above the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3. Investors may view the USTA renewal as a branding and product-demonstration opportunity rather than a separately measurable earnings driver; the announcement contains no revenue or profit guidance.

For investors, the agreement adds visibility for IBM's AI and hybrid-cloud offering in a high-profile international setting. The more important financial test remains whether such showcases help convert technology adoption into recurring enterprise demand across IBM's broader software, infrastructure and consulting businesses.
