- Third-quarter net sales increased 15.5% in Swiss francs, while recurring EBIT rose 16.8% year over year.
- Holcim raised its 2026 organic recurring EBIT growth outlook to 10%-12% and retained its sales growth target at about 5%.
- The planned Fermacell acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to customary conditions and regulatory clearances.
Holcim's third-quarter trading update pointed to stronger operating momentum, with the Swiss building materials group raising its full-year 2026 outlook for organic recurring EBIT growth. The company also highlighted the planned acquisition of Fermacell as a step to expand its European walling, flooring and fire-protection activities.
According to Holcim's Q3 2026 results release, third-quarter net sales rose 15.5% in Swiss francs to CHF 4.662 billion from CHF 4.036 billion a year earlier. Recurring EBIT increased 16.8% to CHF 976 million from CHF 836 million, while the recurring EBIT margin widened to 20.9% from 20.7%. Organic growth reached 5.1% for sales and 12.2% for recurring EBIT.
Margin momentum supports guidance
For the first nine months, Holcim generated net sales of CHF 12.586 billion, up 5.2% organically. Recurring EBIT reached CHF 2.414 billion, representing organic growth of 11.8%, and the recurring EBIT margin increased to 19.2% from 19.1% in the prior-year period.
Chief Executive Officer Miljan Gutovic attributed the performance to customer demand for higher-value offerings, cost discipline and operational execution. The company said its momentum strengthened in the third quarter, with both sales and recurring EBIT growing by double-digit percentages in Swiss francs.
Holcim now expects organic recurring EBIT growth of 10%-12% for 2026, compared with its previous expectation of about 10%. The group continues to target about 5% organic sales growth, further margin expansion and free cash flow of around CHF 2 billion. The guidance depends on continued operating momentum and remains subject to the risks identified by the company in its forward-looking statements.
Fermacell adds building solutions
Holcim entered into an agreement in August to acquire Fermacell from James Hardie Industries. Fermacell is a European provider of walling and flooring solutions with projected 2026 net sales of around EUR 430 million. The transaction is subject to customary conditions and regulatory clearances and is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
Holcim said the deal will broaden its walling, flooring and fire-protection portfolio and strengthen its integrated building-systems and modular-construction offering. The group also reported that it completed 11 transactions in the first nine months, including 10 acquisitions and one divestment.
Holcim stock traded at 79.61 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:00 CET on Wednesday, November 4. Investors are weighing the stronger operating trajectory against execution demands from the acquisition program and the need to convert organic growth into sustained cash generation.
