Holcim completed its acquisition of Australian aggregates and recycling specialist Burdett Group on Thursday, November 5, 2026, expanding its footprint in circular construction. The company announced the transaction in a Holcim media release.
Burdett adds circular capacity
Burdett supplies aggregates, recycled construction and demolition materials, and sand from southeast Melbourne. The business has operated across Victoria since 1972 and serves customers in infrastructure, industry and building construction.
Holcim said the acquisition supports its NextGen Growth 2030 strategy and strengthens its proprietary ECOCycle platform. The group aims to recycle more than 20 million tons of construction and demolition materials globally each year by 2030. ECOCycle products contain between 10% and 100% recycled construction and demolition materials by total product weight, according to the company.
Khaled El Dokani, Holcim's Region Head for Asia, Middle East and Africa, described Burdett as a strategic fit because of its circular-construction expertise and location in Melbourne's metropolitan growth area. He also welcomed more than 120 Burdett employees to Holcim.
Australia remains a growth market
The transaction gives Holcim additional local aggregates, sand reserves and recycling capability in one of Australia's strongest growth corridors. For investors, the deal adds another operating example of Holcim's strategy to combine building materials with higher-value and lower-carbon solutions.
