Hewlett Packard Enterprise stock slipped 1.17 percent from the 48.82 euros quoted in the latest relevant report on Monday, November 2, to 48.25 euros on Tuesday, November 3. The move clears the more-than-1-percent threshold for a new market update, while the underlying lunar-computing project remains a planned technology demonstration.

HPE pushes computing toward the Moon

HPE announced on October 20 that Spaceborne Computer-4 is planned to travel on Astrolab's FLIP rover during a mission targeted for late 2026. Voyager Technologies' Griffin-1 lander is expected to carry the rover toward the lunar South Pole region under NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services initiative.

According to HPE's announcement, the module is scheduled to run artificial intelligence applications and the first high-performance computing benchmarks on the lunar surface. Planned workloads include large language model retrieval, visual inference, LiDAR processing and containerized AI services.

Partners add specialized workloads

NASA plans to use its Federated Learning Using In-space Data experiment to coordinate neural-network models trained on data from Earth, the Moon and the International Space Station. The agency also plans a language-model test for searching and interpreting onboard documents.

Deloitte is set to deploy Silent Shield for predictive cyber-analytics, intrusion detection and anomaly detection. HPE will support Astrolab's mission control in Hawthorne, California, with HPE Private Cloud and CloudOps Software. The project extends HPE's space-computing strategy, but the planned launch and tests have not yet produced operating results.
