Hapag-Lloyd stock rose 1.36 percent as 2026 guidance climbed
Published on 10/04/2026 at 12:34 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSHapag-Lloyd AG stock (ISIN DE000HLAG475) was last at EUR 141.20 on Xetra on October 2, 2026 at 5:35 p.m. CEST, up EUR 1.90 or 1.36 percent from EUR 139.30. The carrier's second 2026 earnings upgrade is the central driver for the latest market view, while its proposed ZIM acquisition faces another regulatory step.
EBITDA guidance reaches USD 4.4 billion
In the September 28, 2026 ad hoc release carried by FinanzNachrichten.de, Hapag-Lloyd lifted its 2026 group EBITDA guidance to USD 3.9 billion to USD 4.4 billion from USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.7 billion. The group EBIT range moved to USD 1.25 billion to USD 1.75 billion from USD 0.1 billion to USD 1.1 billion.
The lower end of the EBITDA outlook therefore increased by USD 1.2 billion, while the upper end rose by USD 0.7 billion. Hapag-Lloyd attributed the change to sustained market demand and improving spot freight rates, but the same release highlighted volatile freight rates and geopolitical challenges as material uncertainties.
ZIM deal faces another review
As Container News reported on October 2, 2026, Hapag-Lloyd and FIMI are detailing a revised proposal for the USD 4.2 billion ZIM acquisition after Israeli authorities ended their review of the original structure. The revised plan includes an additional Israel to Asia route, investment in maritime personnel and a new fleet for ZIM Israel.
The transaction remains subject to regulatory clearances. Container News also reported that shareholders representing more than 10 percent of ZIM called for any materially revised structure to face another shareholder vote, adding a separate procedural hurdle.
Analyst target stays far below the stock
JPMorgan retained an Underweight rating and a EUR 75 price target on September 28, 2026, according to wallstreetONLINE. The target was unchanged from EUR 75 even after the latest guidance increase, showing the contrast between stronger earnings expectations and a cautious valuation view.
Market value reaches EUR 24.8 billion
At EUR 141.20, Hapag-Lloyd stock stood EUR 18.10, or 11.36 percent, below its 52-week high of EUR 159.30 on October 2, 2026. The 52-week range extended down to EUR 108.70, while the market capitalization was EUR 24.8 billion and trading volume was 8,132 shares.
