Hapag-Lloyd raises outlook and Hapag-Lloyd stock gains 1.54 percent
Published on 10/02/2026 at 17:11 | Editorial responsibility: Rafael Müller, Editor-in-Chief AD HOC NEWSHapag-Lloyd AG stock was trading at EUR 141.60 at Lang & Schwarz on October 2, 2026 at 5:04 p.m. CEST, up 1.54 percent from the prior close of EUR 139.45. The company raised its fiscal 2026 outlook on September 28, 2026, with Group EBITDA now expected at USD 3.9 billion to USD 4.4 billion, versus USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.7 billion previously, according to TradingView.
Guidance moves sharply higher
The revised fiscal 2026 EBIT range is USD 1.25 billion to USD 1.75 billion, compared with USD 0.10 billion to USD 1.10 billion before the increase. Reuters reported on September 28, 2026 that Hapag-Lloyd attributed the change to demand and spot freight rates, while warning that volatile freight rates and geopolitical tensions could affect the forecast.
The range change is material at both ends. The lower EBITDA boundary rose from USD 2.7 billion to USD 3.9 billion, while the upper boundary increased from USD 3.7 billion to USD 4.4 billion, giving investors a clearer measure of the upgraded earnings base.
First-half profit remains pressured
The higher full-year outlook contrasts with weaker reported first-half figures. Hapag-Lloyd recorded Group EBITDA of USD 1.32 billion in the first half of 2026, down from USD 1.92 billion in the first half of 2025, while EBIT fell to USD 18.00 million from USD 677.00 million, according to PortNews on September 29, 2026.
The same report put the first-half 2026 net loss at USD 173.00 million, compared with net income of USD 775.00 million in the first half of 2025. Second-quarter EBITDA reached USD 829.00 million and EBIT USD 176.00 million, showing how sharply the quarterly result differed from the first-quarter loss-making level.
Analyst target stays below price
JPMorgan maintained an Underweight rating and a EUR 75.00 price target in its September 29, 2026 note, according to Finanzen.at. The target is EUR 66.60 below the Lang & Schwarz price, so the analyst view places greater weight on freight-rate volatility and execution risk than on the upgraded guidance.
Stock trades below yearly high
Hapag-Lloyd's market capitalization was EUR 25.0 billion as of October 2, 2026. Its 52-week range was EUR 108.70 to EUR 159.30, placing the Lang & Schwarz price EUR 17.70 below the yearly high and EUR 32.90 above the yearly low.
Hapag-Lloyd was trading at EUR 141.60 at Lang & Schwarz on October 2, 2026 at 5:04 p.m. CEST, plus 1.54 percent versus the prior close of EUR 139.45. The further course of trading is shown by the continuously updated real-time quote of Hapag-Lloyd stock.
