GE Vernova reported a sharp increase in third-quarter orders on October 28, 2026, and raised its full-year outlook as demand for electricity infrastructure accelerated. The company also doubled its share buyback authorization, reinforcing the capital-return case while it continues to invest in power generation and grid equipment. The results were reported by Investor Data Digest, citing the companys earnings release and regulatory filings.
Orders lift the growth outlook
Organic orders rose 96 percent to 29.3 billion US dollars in the quarter. Power led the increase, with organic orders up 178 percent to 21.8 billion US dollars. The company booked 55 heavy-duty gas turbines and 57 aeroderivative turbines, while gas power equipment backlog and slot reservation agreements increased to 122 gigawatts from 116 gigawatts.
Total backlog reached 197 billion US dollars, up 20 billion US dollars from the prior quarter. GE Vernova expects backlog to exceed 200 billion US dollars in the fourth quarter and targets at least 130 gigawatts of gas power equipment under contract by the end of 2026.
Demand from data center customers is becoming an important part of the expansion. A report by AIM said electrification orders from data center customers exceeded 6 billion US dollars in 2026. The company also signed its first medium-voltage uninterruptible power supply order with a hyperscaler and received an award for a 6-megawatt outdoor solid-state transformer.
Margins and cash flow improve
Revenue increased 27 percent to 12.642 billion US dollars, while net income climbed to 1.289 billion US dollars from 453 million US dollars a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share reached 4.81 US dollars, compared with 1.64 US dollars in the prior-year quarter.
Adjusted EBITDA more than doubled to 1.943 billion US dollars from 811 million US dollars. The adjusted EBITDA margin widened to 15.4 percent from 8.1 percent. Power revenue increased 25 percent to 6.067 billion US dollars, and its EBITDA margin reached 21.4 percent. Electrification revenue rose 51 percent to 3.862 billion US dollars, while Wind returned to positive segment EBITDA of 72 million US dollars after a 61 million US dollar loss in the prior-year quarter.
Operating cash flow was 6.057 billion US dollars and free cash flow reached 5.409 billion US dollars. GE Vernova raised its 2026 revenue forecast to 46.5 billion to 47.5 billion US dollars from 45.5 billion to 46.5 billion US dollars. The adjusted EBITDA margin target moved to 13.5 percent to 14.5 percent from 12 percent to 14 percent, while free cash flow guidance increased to 16 billion to 17 billion US dollars from 11.5 billion to 12.5 billion US dollars.
Buyback and grid expansion
The board increased the share buyback authorization to 20 billion US dollars from 10 billion US dollars. The company repurchased an estimated 1.7 million shares for 1.6 billion US dollars in the quarter and another 1.4 million shares for 1.3 billion US dollars between October 1 and October 23. The quarterly dividend remained 0.50 US dollars per share, payable on November 24.
GE Vernova also agreed to acquire high-voltage equipment maker Trench Group for 9.0 billion US dollars. Closing is expected in late 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
