- Fujikura is scheduled to release second-quarter results for the fiscal year ending March 2027 on November 10.
- Independent analysis centers on information and communication margins, second-half profitability and shareholder returns.
- Optical communication demand remains strong, but expectations already incorporate major data-center projects.
Fujikura is heading into its November 10 earnings release with investors focused on whether unusually strong information and communication margins can hold. An independent analysis by VELIQ, published on November 5, separates the company plan from its own forecast and highlights profitability, the second-half outlook and dividends as the key tests.
Fujikura stock traded at 17.27 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 09:33 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Margins are the earnings swing factor
Fujikura reported operating profit of 104.8 billion yen in the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, up 155.1 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to the VELIQ analysis and the company materials it cites. The company has raised its full-year operating profit forecast to 432 billion yen after revisions in June and August.
The central question for the second quarter is whether the information and communication business can remain more profitable than the company plan implies. VELIQ calculates an implied second-quarter margin of 31.0 percent from that plan, compared with 37.1 percent in the first quarter. Its independent base case uses a 34.0 percent margin and produces second-quarter operating profit of 103 billion yen.
That estimate is not company guidance. VELIQ forecasts full-year operating profit of 447.8 billion yen, 3.7 percent above the company plan, but says the projection is broadly in line with already elevated market expectations. The analysis therefore sees limited scope for an earnings surprise unless margins remain stronger or the second-half outlook improves.
Data-center demand meets delivery risk
Fujikura's optical connectivity business continues to benefit from data-center investment. VELIQ says information and communication revenue growth in the first quarter was not concentrated solely in North America, with Asia accounting for about 48 percent of the increase. The analysis also stresses that large projects outside the United States were already reflected in the company's August forecast.
That distinction matters for investors. Strong results from overseas suppliers support the demand backdrop, but they do not automatically create additional Fujikura profit. Project timing, product mix and the recognition of large orders will determine whether demand converts into earnings during the second half.
The report also treats the recent correction in artificial-intelligence-related shares as a valuation and timing risk rather than a direct change to current operating profit. Restrictions involving data-center power supply and construction permits could delay future projects, while continued spending by major cloud companies supports the longer-term demand case.
Dividend expectations rise
Shareholder returns are another focus for the November 10 release. Fujikura's annual dividend forecast is 38 yen, while its medium-term policy targets a payout ratio of 40 percent. VELIQ argues that the large increase in the profit outlook has created room for a higher dividend, but it does not treat a specific revision as certain.
The analysis estimates that a payout ratio of 40 percent would imply an annual dividend near 80 yen based on its earnings assumptions. Investors will therefore watch both the interim results and the company's comments on capital allocation, rather than relying only on the quarterly profit figure.
