Fresenius announced on Monday, November 2, 2026, that it has entered an exclusive development agreement with WuXi Biologics to expand its biosimilars pipeline. The corporate release was published by EQS News at 07:00 CET.

Fresenius stock traded at EUR 48.88 on Lang & Schwarz at 09:49 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026, 2.26 percent above the Xetra close of Friday, October 30, at EUR 47.80.

Strategic access to new candidates

The agreement gives Fresenius exclusive option rights for up to 37 identified biosimilar candidates over the next decade. The company said its marketed and pipeline portfolio could expand from 29 molecules today to as many as 66, addressing more than EUR 370 billion in originator list-price-based sales.

Fresenius will select development programs according to market attractiveness, development risk and expected returns. It will retain exclusive global commercialization rights, including marketing authorizations, and the full economics of each product that reaches the market. The arrangement therefore creates a broader opportunity set without committing the company to develop every candidate.

Investment rises with selection

WuXi Biologics will be compensated on a fee-for-service basis for each candidate Fresenius selects. Research and development spending will increase only as individual programs advance, which means Biopharma profitability may face higher development costs before future products generate revenue.

Fresenius said the agreement will be funded from operating cash flow and requires no new financing. The company will determine the long-term manufacturing strategy for each candidate, including the potential transfer of selected products to mAbxience, which Fresenius has owned outright since October.

Initial development is expected to focus on polatuzumab vedotin, an antibody-drug conjugate for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, and teprotumumab, a monoclonal antibody for thyroid eye disease. The planned portfolio spans 13 therapeutic areas and includes monoclonal and bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates and fusion proteins.

Long-term growth remains the focus

Fresenius said its full-year 2026 guidance remains unchanged. It also confirmed its existing 2030 Biopharma ambition of approximately doubling revenue from 2025 at an EBIT margin of around 20 percent for the current marketed and late-stage portfolio. The WuXi agreement is intended to expand the opportunity beyond that framework, and Fresenius expects to raise its longer-term Biopharma ambitions significantly.

For investors, the agreement adds pipeline breadth and preserves control over which programs receive capital. The commercial payoff remains dependent on candidate selection, development progress, regulatory outcomes and eventual market launches, so the announcement is a strategic expansion rather than an immediate revenue increase.

The next scheduled company catalyst is Fresenius' third-quarter report on Wednesday, November 4. Investors are likely to assess the new pipeline strategy alongside operating performance, cash generation and management's explanation of how the agreement fits with the group's unchanged financial framework.
