Fresenius Medical Care reported third-quarter results on Tuesday, November 3, showing broadly stable revenue but weaker profitability. According to the PR Newswire release published through Yahoo Finance, revenue increased 1% year over year to EUR 4.937 billion, while operating income excluding special items fell 5% to EUR 545 million.
Fresenius Medical Care stock traded at EUR 39.02 on Lang & Schwarz at 18:02 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, 3.65% below the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3, at EUR 40.50. Compared with the EUR 40.71 quote in the previous own report from November 2, the stock was 4.15% lower.
Profit pressure meets strategic progress
Reported operating income fell 19% to EUR 384 million, while net income attributable to shareholders dropped 42% to EUR 160 million. The company attributed the reported decline mainly to one-time costs from its China strategy refinement, including impairment, scrappage and termination expenses.
Excluding special items, net income declined 10% to EUR 291 million and basic earnings per share remained broadly stable at EUR 1.11. Operating cash flow increased 8% to EUR 798 million, supported by favorable working-capital development.
Outlook moves toward lower range
Fresenius Medical Care kept its 2026 revenue outlook broadly flat compared with the prior year. It narrowed the outlook for operating income, excluding special items and at constant currency, to a range from flat to a negative mid-single-digit percentage change.
Care Delivery revenue rose 3%, while U.S. same-market treatment growth declined 1.1%. The rollout of the 5008X CAREsystem reached 348 U.S. clinics and 1.3 million treatments by September 30, supporting the company's longer-term operating agenda.
For investors, the key issue is whether underlying efficiency gains can offset reimbursement, inflation and treatment-volume pressure. The lower profit range raises the importance of management's comments on the fourth quarter and on the planned continuation of the transformation program.
