- Business-to-business customers now account for about 60 percent of FedEx revenue.
- Management is prioritizing higher-yield logistics, including data centers, healthcare and automotive customers.
- Network 2.0 is targeting more than 475 site closures by the end of 2027 while FedEx pursues international margin gains.
FedEx is shifting its growth strategy toward higher-value business-to-business customers as it combines stronger pricing with a large network overhaul. The change follows the company's October 28 results and higher calendar-2026 outlook.
The Raleigh News & Observer, republishing TheStreet, reported on Tuesday, November 3, that about 60 percent of FedEx revenue now comes from business-to-business customers. Management is targeting data centers, healthcare and automotive logistics, while Ground economy volume declined 4 percent in the September quarter. The report said data-center activity was the fastest-growing vertical and that FedEx added 13 major automotive customers.
Pricing and network changes support margins
U.S. domestic package yield rose 7 percent in the quarter and international package yield increased 17 percent, according to the same report. FedEx plans an average 5.9 percent parcel-rate increase from January 4, 2027, while management reaffirmed an 8 percent international operating-margin target for 2029.
Network 2.0 is the operational backbone of the strategy. About 65 percent of eligible volume now runs through roughly 630 optimized stations. More than 260 closures have already been completed, with over 475 locations targeted for closure by the end of 2027. The plan is expected to deliver about 1 billion US dollars in savings this year and 2 billion US dollars cumulatively by 2027.
Guidance rises as costs remain visible
FedEx raised its calendar-2026 adjusted diluted earnings-per-share range to 18.00 to 18.60 US dollars and lifted its revenue-growth outlook to about 12 percent from about 11 percent. The September-quarter revenue was 22.9 billion US dollars, while adjusted diluted earnings per share reached 3.74 US dollars. Purchased transportation, fuel and wage costs remain risks to the margin expansion.
