- Adjusted EBITDA rose 40 percent year on year to EUR 629 million in the third quarter.
- Management expects full-year adjusted EBITDA in the upper half of its EUR 2.0 billion to EUR 2.2 billion range.
- The Essen expansion strengthens silicone capacity, logistics and supply resilience.
Evonik has completed a new silicone production plant and tank farm at its Essen Goldschmidtstrasse site, adding a fresh operational milestone to the specialty chemicals group's standalone strategy. Chemical Industry Digest reported the EUR 52 million expansion on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, saying the project increases capacity for organomodified silicones and strengthens the company's international production network.
The project includes a 150-metre pipe bridge linking four production units and 15 manufacturing assets to the new tank farm. Five stainless-steel storage tanks are intended to reduce internal transport of intermediates and finished products, improve supply reliability and limit bottleneck risks. The Essen site is also being positioned as a centre of excellence for customer-specific formulations.
Chemical Industry Digest said the expansion was completed while the site remained fully operational. The report described the investment as part of Evonik's wider effort to reinforce its global silicone platform and serve demand across industrial and consumer applications.
Operational progress meets earnings momentum
Evonik's third-quarter adjusted EBITDA increased 40 percent year on year to EUR 629 million, while revenue rose 13 percent. The company said its 2026 adjusted EBITDA should land in the upper half of its EUR 2.0 billion to EUR 2.2 billion guidance range and expects fourth-quarter earnings to exceed the prior-year period.
The earnings improvement remains uneven. Evonik posted a net loss of EUR 53 million after booking EUR 313 million in provisions linked to the extended Tailor Made efficiency program. Advanced Technologies led the operating recovery, with adjusted EBITDA up 87 percent to EUR 377 million, while Custom Solutions increased adjusted EBITDA 7 percent to EUR 231 million.
The company is also progressing with the planned sale of Oxeno and preparing a possible sale of Syneqt. Management targets return on capital employed above 8 percent in 2026 and about 11 percent by 2029, making execution and cash generation key measures for investors.
