- Equinor raised its 2026 oil and gas production growth outlook to around 4 percent.
- International production increased while output on the Norwegian Continental Shelf remained stable.
- The company approved a USD 0.39 quarterly dividend and a final 2026 buyback tranche.
Equinor reported adjusted operating income of USD 12.35 billion for the third quarter on October 28, 2026, while adjusted net income reached USD 2.86 billion, according to Equinor's results release. The company also raised its full-year oil and gas production growth outlook from 3 percent to around 4 percent.
Beyond the earnings headline, Equinor reported several strategic developments. It acquired an interest in the Lackawanna gas-fired power plant in the United States, progressed the Bay du Nord project in Canada with a new partner and accessed exploration acreage in Namibia. These moves expand the company's energy and resource portfolio beyond the immediate quarterly result.
Production and cash generation
Total equity production rose 2 percent year over year to 2,166 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day. International oil and gas production increased 21 percent, helped by new output from Adura in the United Kingdom and Bacalhau in Brazil, while production on the Norwegian Continental Shelf remained stable.
Equinor said cash flow from operations after taxes paid reached USD 8.14 billion. The company attributed the quarter's result to higher liquid and European gas prices, strong refining margins and high production. Adjusted earnings per share came to USD 1.20.
Capital returns remain substantial
The board approved a third-quarter cash dividend of USD 0.39 per share. It also initiated the fourth and final 2026 share-buyback tranche of up to USD 1.125 billion, scheduled to run from October 29, 2026, until no later than February 1, 2027. The planned 2026 buyback programme totals up to USD 3 billion, including shares to be redeemed by the Norwegian state.
