- Retatrutide trial results and regulatory progress broaden the pipeline focus beyond the established metabolic portfolio.
Eli Lilly reported stronger third-quarter demand and raised its full-year revenue outlook on October 29, but acquisition-related research charges lowered the adjusted earnings range. The company's investor release said revenue increased 39 percent year over year to 24.4 billion US dollars, driven mainly by Mounjaro and Zepbound.
Eli Lilly's investor release said worldwide volume increased 53 percent, while realized prices declined 15 percent. Mounjaro revenue rose 65 percent to 10.7 billion US dollars and Zepbound revenue reached 5.3 billion US dollars.
What changed since the last report
The updated outlook raises the sales target for 2026 to 91.0 billion to 92.0 billion US dollars from 85.0 billion to 87.0 billion US dollars previously. At the same time, the adjusted earnings-per-share range moved to 35.00 to 36.00 US dollars from 35.50 to 36.50 US dollars. Lilly attributed the pressure to 4.57 US dollars per share of acquired in-process research and development charges linked to business development activity.
The release also highlighted positive topline results from a Phase 3 head-to-head trial of investigational retatrutide against Ozempic 2 mg in adults with type 2 diabetes. Regulatory progress included approvals or label expansions for Mounjaro, Onswik, Inluriyo and Jaypirca. These developments give investors additional pipeline and launch milestones to monitor alongside demand for the metabolic portfolio.
