E.ON stock (ISIN DE000ENAG999) traded at 18.6875 EUR on Xetra on September 1, 2026, down 1.75 percent, after the company kept its 2026 targets unchanged, according to dpa-AFX via comdirect.
Targets stay unchanged
According to the dpa-AFX report published on August 12, 2026, E.ON kept its full-year EBITDA target at 9.4 billion EUR to 9.6 billion EUR and its adjusted net profit target at 2.7 billion EUR to 2.9 billion EUR. The same report said the stock fell as much as 3 percent intraday before closing at 18.64 EUR, and that E.ON remained the largest power utility and grid operator in Germany.
That range matters because the midpoint implies 9.5 billion EUR in EBITDA and 2.8 billion EUR in adjusted net profit for 2026. The market reaction was clear: E.ON stock underperformed RWE, which rose 1.2 percent to 58.20 EUR on the same trading day.
Half-year numbers
The same report said E.ON had already reached about 57 percent of its EBITDA midpoint and about 70 percent of its adjusted profit midpoint in the first half of 2026. Those figures put the second half in sharper view, because the company would need only the remaining 43 percent of midpoint EBITDA and 30 percent of midpoint adjusted profit to hit the target center.
Jefferies analyst Ahmed Farman was cited in the report as saying the upper end of the profit range looked achievable, given E.ON had already covered most of the midpoint and had averaged about 1.0 billion EUR in second-half earnings over the past three years. The Reuters market wrap on September 2, 2026 also showed a weaker regional risk tone, with Asian shares under pressure as oil prices rose after fresh US-Iran strikes.
E.ON stock and the 2026 earnings range
The read-through is simple: the stock is reacting less to the size of the 2026 targets than to how quickly E.ON has already moved toward the midpoint.
E.ON unit profile
E.ON runs Germany's biggest power utility and grid business, and that regulated network base is the most relevant backdrop for the 2026 target discussion. The company was described in the report as being on track to reach the upper end of its earnings range, which makes the second-half delivery more important than the headline target itself.
18.6875 EUR on Xetra
E.ON stock was quoted at 18.6875 EUR on Xetra on September 1, 2026, with a 1.75 percent decline on the day. The share moved in a DAX setting while the broader market also reacted to higher oil prices and weaker global risk appetite.
