DroneShield stock (ISIN AU000000DRO2) fell 3 percent to AUD 1.62 at the September 24, 2026 close on the ASX. The move came as The Motley Fool Australia reported that DroneShield had received its first RfRecon order from an existing Western European military customer.
RfRecon reaches a first customer
The initial order was described as not financially material, but it gives the new product a first commercial reference with a military user. DroneShield said RfRecon had also been placed with selected European and US end users and used during a major international defense exercise, with sales expected to build through 2027.
The product targets radio-frequency detection and counter-drone applications. The company described a potential global addressable market of USD 1 billion to USD 3 billion a year, although the initial order itself does not change near-term earnings.
Revenue grows as margins weaken
DroneShield reported first-half 2026 revenue of AUD 125.8 million, up 74 percent from AUD 72.3 million in the first half of 2025. According to Streetwise Reports on August 26, 2026, underlying EBITDA was a AUD 12.4 million loss, compared with a AUD 8.0 million profit in the prior-year period.
Management reaffirmed FY2026 revenue guidance of AUD 250 million to AUD 270 million. Committed revenue stood at AUD 251 million in the September 24 report, while committed revenue for FY2027 and beyond reached AUD 46 million, creating a stronger sales base but leaving execution and profitability as the key tests.
Analyst targets remain divided
Streetwise Reports said on August 26, 2026, that Bell Potter retained a Buy rating while lowering its 12-month price target to AUD 2.40 from AUD 2.50. The lower target reflects the pressure created by higher operating costs and the first-half EBITDA loss.
DroneShield's market debate therefore has two measurable sides: 74 percent first-half revenue growth and a AUD 12.4 million underlying EBITDA loss. RfRecon adds a product milestone, but the stock's valuation still depends on converting committed revenue into profitable delivery.
Stock remains below its yearly high
DroneShield stock closed at AUD 1.62 on September 24, 2026, down 3 percent for the session on the ASX. The same session reference places the 52-week range at AUD 1.57 to AUD 6.71, leaving the share price AUD 0.05 above the low and AUD 5.09 below the high.
