Drägerwerk stock weighs stronger sales against Q3 profit decline

Drägerwerk stock gains as nine-month EBIT rises, but customs refunds and higher costs cloud the improvement. The 2026 outlook remains intact.

Sales Growth Meets Margin Pressure

  • Drägerwerk lifted nine-month sales by 5.3 percent on a currency-adjusted basis, with both divisions contributing.
  • Third-quarter EBIT fell year on year as higher functional costs offset limited sales growth.
  • The company retained its 2026 sales and EBIT-margin targets.

Drägerwerk stock traded at 105.50 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:30 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 1.44 percent above the Xetra close of 104.00 euros on Tuesday, November 3. The move came as investors continued to assess stronger nine-month sales against weaker quarterly profitability.

Drägerwerk reported the results on October 29. According to the EQS News release, order intake increased 3.6 percent after currency effects to 2,673.5 million euros in the first nine months. Net sales rose 5.3 percent after currency effects to 2,453.9 million euros, compared with 2,343.5 million euros a year earlier.

Safety Leads The Operating Picture

The two divisions developed differently. Medical technology order intake declined 3.5 percent after currency effects to 1,430.7 million euros, while safety technology order intake advanced 13.1 percent to 1,242.8 million euros. Sales rose 4.4 percent in medical technology and 6.5 percent in safety technology.

Group EBIT increased to 111.8 million euros from 77.1 million euros, lifting the nine-month EBIT margin to 4.6 percent from 3.3 percent. The improvement included 27.9 million euros in customs refunds. Dräger said 3.8 million euros of those refunds related to current-year customs expenses and were earnings-neutral, while 25.8 million euros of U.S. customs costs incurred in 2026 were not refundable under current law.

The quality of the improvement therefore remains important for shareholders. Functional expenses increased 5.6 percent, driven by personnel, logistics and IT costs. The company said the refunds supported the gross margin, which rose to 46.8 percent from 45.1 percent.

Third Quarter Shows Cost Tension

In the third quarter, order intake increased 7.0 percent after currency effects to 926.2 million euros. Safety technology was the stronger contributor, with order intake up 20.2 percent to 451.9 million euros, helped by a major defense order in Germany. Medical technology order intake fell 3.0 percent to 474.3 million euros as demand in EMEA weakened.

Quarterly sales rose 1.0 percent after currency effects to 850.8 million euros. EBIT, however, declined to 48.0 million euros from 56.7 million euros, and the EBIT margin narrowed to 5.6 percent from 6.8 percent. The figures leave investors balancing demand momentum and the safety division's strength against cost control and the medical division's weaker order intake.

Dräger retained its 2026 forecast for currency-adjusted sales growth of 2.0 to 6.0 percent and an EBIT margin of 6.0 to 8.0 percent. Management said it remained confident in achieving the annual targets, but the quarterly margin decline makes execution in the final quarter central to meeting that range.
