- Third-quarter revenue rose 34% year over year, while adjusted EBITDA increased 41%.
- The planned Instacart acquisition is expected to create a multiyear synergy opportunity but requires substantial early investment.
- Closing depends on shareholder and regulatory approvals and is targeted for late 2027 or the first half of 2028.
DoorDash reported strong third-quarter operating growth on October 29, while its planned Instacart acquisition shifted the investor focus toward integration, financing and execution. In its third-quarter results release, DoorDash said revenue increased 34% year over year to 4.616 billion US dollars and adjusted EBITDA rose 41% to 1.060 billion US dollars.
DoorDash stock traded at 152.24 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 4:33:26 p.m. CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026. That was 13.58% below the 176.17-euro quote cited in the previous report at 4:12:29 p.m. CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The move is a separate comparison with the earlier report, not a Xetra day comparison.
Growth meets a costly expansion
Third-quarter total orders reached 993 million, up 28% from a year earlier, while Marketplace GOV increased 36% to 33.941 billion US dollars. GAAP net income attributable to common stockholders rose 91% to 466 million US dollars, and operating cash flow reached 994 million US dollars for the quarter.
DoorDash agreed to acquire Instacart parent Maplebear for 65.00 US dollars per share, implying an equity value of approximately 17 billion US dollars. The consideration will be at least 75% cash and up to 25% DoorDash stock, with closing targeted for the end of 2027 or the first half of 2028, subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals.
Synergies come after investment
Management sees a multiyear path to at least 500 million US dollars of annual net synergies. DoorDash expects to invest more than the total synergies during the first year after closing, with positive net synergies expected from the second year onward and the main bottom-line contribution targeted for the third year.
The strategic case combines Instacart's grocery software and merchant relationships with DoorDash's logistics network. Potential benefits include broader merchant selection, advertising reach, software cross-selling and greater density across delivery networks. For investors, the key risk is that the expected benefits arrive well after the transaction closes, while financing, regulatory review and integration costs remain immediate considerations.
