DoorDash stock shifts to Instacart execution and AI milestones

DoorDash stock now faces a longer integration path as management links the Instacart deal to future scale. AI ordering remains an early commercial test.

DoorDash weighs growth against execution

  • The Instacart transaction would broaden DoorDash's grocery and merchant-software reach but still requires regulatory and shareholder approvals.
  • DoorDash expects the combination to require heavy investment before potential synergies improve earnings.
  • AI ordering and the global technology platform remain important milestones for the company's next growth phase.

DoorDash reported record third-quarter operating metrics on October 29, 2026, while the proposed Instacart acquisition shifted the focus toward integration and capital allocation. The company's investor release said revenue rose 34 percent year over year to USD 4.616 billion in the quarter ended September 30.

DoorDash stock traded at 162.85 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 4:12:07 p.m. CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. The real-time quote of DoorDash stock is available here.

Instacart adds a long execution runway

DoorDash agreed to acquire Instacart for USD 65.00 per share, implying an equity value of about USD 17 billion. At least 75 percent of the consideration would be paid in cash, while DoorDash stock could account for up to 25 percent. Closing is targeted for the end of 2027 or the first half of 2028 and depends on shareholder and regulatory approvals.

Management sees a multiyear path to at least USD 500 million in annual synergies net of investments. The company expects to invest more than the total synergies during the first year after closing, with positive net synergies expected from the second year onward. That schedule leaves financing, antitrust review and integration as central variables for investors.

AI remains an early growth option

The earnings release also described DoorDash's recent AI products, including Ask DoorDash, Text DoorDash and a connection for external AI agents. The initiatives support ordering and merchant services, but the company is positioning its main competitive effort around the physical delivery network rather than digital assistance alone.

Third-quarter scale provides a stronger operating base for that strategy: total orders increased 28 percent year over year to 993 million, Marketplace GOV rose 36 percent to USD 33.941 billion and adjusted EBITDA increased 41 percent to USD 1.060 billion. The figures include Deliveroo; excluding that acquisition, revenue growth was 23 percent.
