Deere & Company announced on Friday, October 30, that it plans to hire more than 400 people across its factories and recall more than 275 employees at its Waterloo, Iowa, operations. The company said the additional workforce should help it meet customer needs through changing operating conditions, including future labor negotiations, according to John Deere.
Hiring expands across Midwest sites
The callbacks will bring Deere's total since 2024 to approximately 1,000 employees. Workers previously on layoff in Waterloo, the Quad Cities, Ottumwa and Dubuque have been asked to return, while approximately 125 employees remain on layoff in the Des Moines area.
Deere listed hiring at Harvester Works in East Moline, the Seeding and Cylinder operations in Moline, the North American Parts Distribution Center in Milan, and facilities in Davenport, Dubuque, Ottumwa and Coffeyville. The expansion may improve production flexibility, but it also brings future labor costs and contract negotiations further onto the investor agenda.
