- Third-quarter revenue increased 8.5 percent year over year, while adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 11.5 percent.
- Core revenue growth excluding respiratory testing accelerated to 5.5 percent, supporting the higher full-year earnings range.
- Management expects fourth-quarter core growth excluding respiratory testing of 4.0 to 5.0 percent.
Danaher Corporation raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings outlook after stronger third-quarter execution, with revenue, adjusted earnings and cash flow all exceeding management's expectations. The company announced the results on Wednesday, October 21, for the quarter ended September 25.
According to Danaher's official earnings release, revenue increased 8.5 percent year over year to 6.554 billion US dollars. Net earnings from continuing operations rose to 1.207 billion US dollars from 908 million US dollars a year earlier, while diluted earnings per share from continuing operations increased to 1.71 US dollars from 1.27 US dollars.
Underlying growth gains momentum
Danaher's non-GAAP adjusted diluted earnings per share advanced 11.5 percent to 2.11 US dollars, compared with 1.89 US dollars in the prior-year quarter. Operating cash flow reached 1.886 billion US dollars, up from 1.662 billion US dollars, and non-GAAP free cash flow increased to 1.632 billion US dollars from 1.370 billion US dollars.
The underlying sales picture improved despite portfolio effects and respiratory testing volatility. Non-GAAP core revenue grew 3.0 percent, while core revenue excluding respiratory testing increased 5.5 percent. By segment, Biotechnology posted 5.0 percent core sales growth and Life Sciences grew 4.5 percent. Diagnostics core sales growth was 0.5 percent, while reported Diagnostics sales benefited from portfolio changes and rose 17.0 percent.
Danaher said the acceleration in core revenue excluding respiratory testing, together with execution under its Danaher Business System, drove double-digit adjusted EPS growth. Chief Executive Officer Julie Sawyer Montgomery also pointed to improving trends across the company's end markets and said Danaher aims to strengthen its position in Life Sciences and Diagnostics.
Higher earnings range, cautious sales outlook
Danaher lifted its full-year 2026 adjusted diluted EPS guidance to 8.57 to 8.62 US dollars, compared with the previous range of 8.45 to 8.60 US dollars. For the fourth quarter, management expects core revenue excluding respiratory testing to increase 4.0 to 5.0 percent year over year. Respiratory revenue is expected to reduce total core growth by 150 basis points, leaving overall core revenue growth near 3.0 percent.
The outlook combines better execution with a still uneven demand backdrop. Danaher's full-year core revenue growth expectation is 2.5 percent, while core growth excluding respiratory testing is expected in the mid-single-digit range. The company forecasts fourth-quarter adjusted operating profit margin of 29.5 percent.
