- Third-quarter revenue rose 5.4 percent year over year to USD 108.4 billion.
- Adjusted earnings per share increased as Health Care Benefits improved its operating performance.
- Higher profit and cash-flow targets were tempered by continuing medical-cost and macroeconomic risks.
CVS Health reported stronger third-quarter results on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and raised its full-year targets. The company said in its investor relations release that revenue increased 5.4 percent year over year to USD 108.4 billion.
The real-time quote of CVS Health stock was 72.79 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:42 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 9.19 percent below the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3, 2026. That was 9.00 percent below the 79.99 euros cited in our preceding report at 13:06 CET the same day.
Insurance margins improve
Net income reached USD 2.17 billion, compared with a USD 3.99 billion loss a year earlier. GAAP diluted earnings per share came to USD 1.68, while adjusted earnings per share rose to USD 2.09 from USD 1.60.
The comparison benefited from the absence of a USD 5.7 billion goodwill impairment charge recorded in the third quarter of 2025. Health Care Benefits adjusted operating income increased to USD 912 million from USD 314 million, while the medical benefit ratio improved to 91.3 percent from 92.8 percent.
Higher targets, persistent risks
CVS Health now expects full-year GAAP diluted earnings per share of at least USD 6.98 and adjusted earnings per share of at least USD 8.20. The operating cash flow target rose to at least USD 15.5 billion from at least USD 11.5 billion.
Management retained a cautious view for the rest of 2026 because elevated cost trends and potential macroeconomic headwinds remain risks. Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness revenue declined 2.0 percent in the quarter, leaving reimbursement pressure and regulatory price reductions on investors' watch list.
For investors, the stronger insurance result makes the margin recovery a central earnings driver, while the pharmacy business remains a counterweight. The next focus is whether cost trends and segment momentum support the raised targets.
The Euro Stoxx 50 provides the broader market backdrop for European trading as investors assess earnings and interest-rate expectations.
