Covestro presented its plans for the China International Import Expo on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The company will showcase polymer solutions for construction, mobility, robotics and renewable energy at the Shanghai event, according to Covestro's press release.
China event targets industrial demand
The CIIE will take place from November 5 to 10 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Covestro is returning to the event after participating from 2021 to 2023, using the trade fair to deepen relationships with customers and partners across the value chain.
Chief Executive Markus Steilemann said China remains an important market for electric mobility, renewable energy and robotics. Covestro is presenting its participation as part of its broader shift toward circular-economy solutions and long-term customer value.
Lower-impact construction materials
A central exhibit is an exterior wall insulation board based on a special Baytherm polyurethane formulation. Covestro says the board can deliver the same insulation performance with a 20 percent thinner layer than conventional polyurethane. The design is intended to support ultra-low-energy buildings while reducing the risk of exterior wall detachment.
The material has China's B1 flame-retardant rating for organic insulation materials, produces no flaming droplets and has low smoke density in fire tests. Covestro also says it complies with Shanghai's exterior wall insulation requirements.
Shanghai platform anchors regional growth
The event marks 25 years of intensive investment in China for Covestro. The company's Shanghai production site is now its largest single production area, while its Asia-Pacific Innovation Center supports product development for customers in China and other markets.
Covestro will appear at the event as part of the booth of ADNOC, its majority shareholder through the international investment arm XRG. The trade fair therefore combines product demonstrations with efforts to strengthen the company's local-for-local strategy.
