CME Group stock heads into a week marked by a planned expansion of trading functionality on CME Globex. In its official CME Globex Notice dated October 26, CME Group said the changes will take effect on Sunday, November 15, for the Monday, November 16 trade date.

What the launch changes

The exchange will extend implied trading functionality for selected short-term interest-rate futures. The enhancement covers calendar and butterfly spreads with mixed tick sizes and is intended to support price discovery and order matching efficiency.

The same notice also sets out a new exchange-defined implied equity-index calendar futures spread using a new strategy type. The products affected include E-mini S&P 500 Equal Weight futures, E-mini Russell 1000 futures, E-mini Russell 1000 Value futures, E-mini Russell 1000 Growth futures, E-mini Russell 2000 Value futures and E-mini Russell 2000 Growth futures. The products are already available for customer testing in CME's New Release environment.

Financial backdrop remains strong

The planned functionality follows a strong third quarter. In its third-quarter results release dated October 21, CME Group reported revenue of 1.7 billion US dollars and average daily volume of 29.4 million contracts. The release also said market data revenue reached a record 243 million US dollars in the quarter.
