- Schwab launched a Claude connector that lets authorized advisors query client data through Schwab Advisor Center.
- The company is pairing AI access with permission controls and live data connections rather than manual data transfers.
- Schwab says the tools are designed to support advisors while preserving the role of trusted human guidance.
Charles Schwab launched a connector for Anthropic's Claude for Financial Advisors on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, bringing the artificial intelligence tool into Schwab Advisor Center. Schwab presented the product at its IMPACT Summit in Boston, according to Bloomberg via Yahoo Finance.
Permissioned access to client data
The connector allows advisors to ask natural-language questions across their books of business. Schwab Advisor Services AI head Alison Dooher said firms can enroll advisors and set permissions for the client information each user is allowed to see.
The system connects through an application programming interface, so advisors do not need to move client data manually. Schwab said the design keeps access aligned with the permissions already used for its systems and provides live data within the approved scope.
AI remains an advisor tool
Schwab said adoption of artificial intelligence among advisors has accelerated, with use moving beyond routine tasks such as email summaries and drafts. The company described the technology as a way to reduce administrative work and give advisors more time for client relationships.
Dooher also said Schwab does not expect artificial intelligence to replace trusted advisors. The company is developing its own services while working with technology partners, including Anthropic and Nevas, across the independent registered investment advisor ecosystem.
