- Jefferies upgraded Centrica from Hold to Buy and raised its price target.
- The bank sees retail and infrastructure earnings as the core of the growth case.
- Centrica Energy and new infrastructure projects provide additional upside potential beyond Jefferies' base case.
Jefferies upgraded Centrica from Hold to Buy on Tuesday, November 3, and raised its price target to 200 pence from 190 pence. Hargreaves Lansdown reported that the broker sees the market as overlooking the visibility and growth embedded in the British Gas owner's retail and infrastructure businesses.
Jefferies forecasts earnings per share to grow at a 13% compound annual rate from 2026 to 2030, according to the report. Visible earnings from retail and infrastructure are expected to grow at a 17% annual rate over the same period.
The broker also sees upside from Centrica Energy and new infrastructure projects beyond its base case. The upgrade followed a period of pressure after Centrica's first-half results, with Jefferies arguing that concerns about the company's volatile trading arm had weighed too heavily on the shares.
Hargreaves Lansdown said Centrica shares were up 3.2% at 154.70 pence at 10:26 GMT on November 3. That historical move accompanied the broker update and should not be treated as a forecast for the next session.
Centrica stock traded at 1.83 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:33 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. The real-time quote of Centrica stock gives investors a current euro-denominated reference for the German evening market.
