Cathay United Bank's Ho Chi Minh City branch won a Bronze Stevie Award on Thursday, November 5, 2026, for its CUB Vietnam App. The award recognized the platform in the Financial Services/Banking category at the 23rd Annual International Business Awards.
PR Newswire Asia reported that the app was also the only Vietnam-based winner in the awards' App Categories. Cathay United Bank is part of Cathay Financial Holdings.
App extends digital lending reach
Launched in 2024, the CUB Vietnam App lets eligible customers complete the lending process digitally, from identity verification and application to credit assessment, approval and disbursement. The platform had more than 1.3 million registered users and surpassed 9.6 million downloads through October 2026.
The app uses a revolving credit model that allows eligible customers to apply once and access an approved credit line multiple times for up to five years. The platform also integrates electronic identity checks, automated credit assessment, NFC-enabled identity verification and security technologies.
Pre-screening targets borrower transparency
Cathay United Bank introduced the "View Your Offers" feature in August 2026. Prospective customers can provide basic information and receive a preliminary credit offer before formally applying, while customers who proceed can continue the process through the app.
