Drivers of the day
Buying in banks and financial stocks helped extend Monday's rebound. Kotak Mahindra Bank gained 3.60 percent after reporting 24.7 percent year-over-year growth in net advances and 23.2 percent growth in deposits, according to Moneycontrol.
Brent crude traded below USD 100 a barrel, while positive global cues also supported sentiment. The rupee ended at 96.42 per USD, down from 96.30, as The Economic Times reported.
Stocks and sectors
Trent was among the strongest large-stock performers, rising 12.64 percent after a strong quarterly business update. Kotak Mahindra Bank also advanced, while Coal India fell 3.27 percent and Tech Mahindra declined 2.40 percent. Chemicals, oil and gas, pharma, private banks and FMCG stocks gained, while information technology and realty lagged, according to The Tribune.

The Reserve Bank of India is scheduled to announce its monetary policy decision on October 7 at 10:00 a.m. IST. Governor Sanjay Malhotra is scheduled to hold a press conference at 12:00 p.m. IST, according to The Economic Times.
