Brookfield stock traded at 37.11 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:40 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. Drax said on November 3 that it had signed a strategic partnership with Brookfield and Radiant, Brookfield's UK-headquartered AI infrastructure platform, to develop an AI data center at Drax Power Station in northern England.

The announcement gives Brookfield exposure to a long-dated infrastructure project serving the fast-growing demand for computing capacity. Drax said investment capital and operating capabilities will come through the Brookfield-Qai AI infrastructure joint venture, while Radiant will contribute design, customer engagement and commercialization expertise.

Large project, staged execution

The partners are targeting more than 1 gigawatt of data center capacity across three phases. The first phase targets up to 100 megawatts and aims to start commercial operations in the first quarter of 2028. A second phase could add 500 megawatts between 2028 and 2031, while a third phase would pursue additional capacity after 2031.

Brookfield estimates that total potential investment could exceed 20 billion pounds, including semiconductor chips. The initial phase is expected to require 2.5 billion pounds. Drax said the project would use the power station's 4 gigawatts of grid access and 2.6 gigawatts of dispatchable generation capacity.

The timetable remains conditional. The first phase requires planning, regulatory and network approvals, an acceptable tenant, commercial agreements and final investment decisions by the partners. Drax said a planning application is being prepared and that public consultation is expected to begin in November 2026.

What the announcement means for investors

The project broadens Brookfield's AI infrastructure platform around powered land, grid access and long-term capital. It also creates execution risk because the proposed capacity depends on permitting, customer commitments and staged investment decisions rather than an operating facility today.

The announcement does not establish revenue or earnings guidance for Brookfield Corporation. Its significance for shareholders is the potential to expand an infrastructure investment pipeline, while the financial contribution will depend on development progress, capital allocation and eventual data center occupancy.
