- Anthropic disclosed nearly 895 billion US dollars of commitments, mostly for computing and data centers.
- The company reported third-quarter revenue of about 17 billion US dollars but a 567 million US dollar operating loss.
- Anthropic's amended filing still leaves its IPO price range and share count blank.
Anthropic's amended IPO filing has sharpened the investment case around Broadcom's custom AI infrastructure business. The filing, released Monday, November 2, put the artificial-intelligence company's total commitments at nearly 895 billion US dollars, with almost all of the amount tied to computing and data centers, according to Yahoo Finance.
Broadcom is the largest named equipment lessor in the filing, with about 161 billion US dollars in five-year equipment leases. The disclosure gives investors a clearer view of potential demand for custom accelerators and related infrastructure, but it does not by itself establish the timing or profitability of Broadcom's future revenue.
Large commitments meet uneven profitability
Anthropic's third-quarter revenue rose to about 17 billion US dollars from 11.6 billion US dollars in the second quarter. The company nevertheless posted a 567 million US dollar operating loss after recording a 974 million US dollar operating profit in the previous quarter. A 2 billion US dollar non-cash charge linked to a donation-matching program added to the latest loss.
The filing also said Anthropic bought 5 billion US dollars of short-term computing after demand exceeded its contracted capacity. Those purchases currently cost significantly more than its longer-term arrangements, according to the report. Anthropic books most of its computing 12 to 18 months in advance, making financing, deployment schedules and customer demand important variables for suppliers such as Broadcom.
Purchase commitments alone increased to about 314 billion US dollars from 55 billion US dollars at the end of 2025. Other large arrangements named in the filing include about 121 billion US dollars with Google, up from 114.5 billion US dollars in the first filing, up to 120.5 billion US dollars with SpaceX's AI unit and 110 billion US dollars with Amazon. Anthropic also expects to spend more than 20 billion US dollars with AMD and plans another 125 billion to 150 billion US dollars of Google chips, although those arrangements do not carry fixed dollar commitments and are excluded from the 895 billion US dollar total.
Broadcom's AI thesis faces execution tests
The disclosure supports Broadcom's strategy of supplying application-specific chips and networking equipment to major AI platforms. It also highlights the risks attached to that strategy. Anthropic said 5% to 7% of its revenue in the first nine months came from customers that breached usage policies or commercial terms, while price cuts and discounts reduced third-quarter revenue by about 600 million US dollars.
Anthropic's filing leaves its IPO price range and share count blank. Investors therefore still lack a final valuation framework for the prospective customer and cannot yet assess how much capital the listing might provide for its infrastructure plans. The filing also states that Anthropic has 1.77 billion stock options outstanding and has reserved up to 2.95 billion shares for a new equity plan, creating a potential dilution consideration.
