- Avolon's finalized purchase is the largest 737 MAX order placed by a lessor.
- The transaction raises Avolon's unfilled 737 MAX backlog above 240 airplanes.
- Production execution and the conversion of backlog into deliveries remain key investor tests.
Boeing stock gained as Boeing and aircraft lessor Avolon finalized a purchase of 140 737-10 airplanes on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. Boeing described the transaction in its investor release as the largest 737 MAX order ever placed by a lessor.
The current quote was 2.03 percent above the latest relevant report's 155.41 euros at 13:32 CET on the same day. Boeing stock traded at 158.56 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 3:37 p.m. CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, 1.25 percent above the Xetra close of Tuesday, November 3.
Avolon expands its single-aisle fleet
The order raises Avolon's 737 MAX backlog to more than 240 unfilled airplanes. Lessors have placed firm orders for more than 230 Boeing 737-10 aircraft in 2026, according to Boeing, five times the lessor backlog for its largest 737 MAX variant at the end of 2025.
The 737-10 can carry up to 230 passengers and fly 3,100 nautical miles. Avolon said the purchase will support airline fleet renewal and strengthen its delivery pipeline, while Boeing said the model addresses demand for larger single-aisle aircraft.
Execution remains the next test
The order improves visibility in Boeing's commercial-aircraft pipeline, but it does not set delivery timing or near-term cash generation. Investors will continue to watch production stability, certification progress and the conversion of backlog into completed deliveries.
For Boeing, the transaction adds commercial demand after the company reported an uneven third-quarter recovery. The company has secured 737-10 certification, but commercial-aircraft profitability and production execution remain central to the investment case.
