- BNY added institutional custody for XRP and RLUSD to its Digital Asset Custody platform.
- Direct RLUSD minting and redemption remain planned, subject to approvals and client requirements.
- BNY and Ripple are exploring tokenized trade finance with C2FO on the XRP Ledger.
On October 27, 2026, BNY and Ripple expanded their strategic collaboration across institutional digital-asset custody and tokenized trade finance. The announcement broadens BNY's role beyond its existing position as primary reserve custodian for RLUSD and its custody relationship with Ripple Prime.
According to the BNY newsroom, eligible institutional clients can safekeep, hold and transfer XRP and RLUSD through the bank's Digital Asset Custody platform. The service places the assets within BNY's broader governance, controls and servicing framework.
Future services remain conditional
BNY intends to support more tokenized assets and investment products issued on the XRP Ledger. It is also working with Ripple to enable clients to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through BNY, but the release says those plans remain subject to final BNY and regulatory approvals.
Ripple and BNY are exploring tokenized trade finance with C2FO. The initiative would represent trade-finance assets such as approved receivables digitally and could broaden investor access, but the companies tie the work to client requirements. The announcement does not disclose custody balances, client volumes or revenue from the expanded service.
BNY Mellon stock traded at 133.50 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 16:06 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The quote differed by 1.14 percent from the 132.00-euro quote in the November 2 report at 11:06 CET.
