BNP Paribas Wealth Management is preparing further expansion in Germany and Asia as the group develops its international wealth platform. In an interview published Tuesday, November 3, WealthBriefing quoted CEO Vincent Lecomte on the business outlook.

Lecomte said the acquisition of HSBC Private Bank's German activities, completed last year, had more than doubled BNP Paribas Wealth Management's size in Germany. The unit now has EUR 50 billion in assets under management there and ranks as the country's fourth-largest private bank, according to the report.

Germany remains a strategic priority

The wealth business operates in 10 German cities, including Frankfurt, Berlin and Munich. Lecomte identified German small and medium-sized enterprises, entrepreneurs and families as important client segments and said the group intends to invest further in the market.

France and Italy remain key markets, while Belgium and the Netherlands also contribute to the regional footprint. Lecomte highlighted northern Italy as a further opportunity, pointing to a strategy that combines established European operations with additional growth initiatives.

Asia is another central focus. Lecomte described 2026 as a record year for the region and cited stronger activity in Taiwan and an increased presence in Thailand. Asia now accounts for more than 20% of BNP Paribas Wealth Management's total assets under management.

International growth shapes investor focus

The comments give investors a view of how BNP Paribas is seeking to broaden fee-generating wealth activities beyond its domestic base. The German acquisition provides greater scale, while the Asian expansion adds exposure to markets where the group sees demand from entrepreneurs and families.
